Outdoor residential lighting has come into its own. There was a time when outdoor lighting meant simply a porch light and driveway light, and perhaps these lights would only be turned on when company was expected, or when the kids came around at Halloween for trick or treating. During the holidays this might be extended to a few strings along the gutters or a light-up plastic holiday display in the yard. These simple fixtures served their purpose, but did little to enhance the home. Today, outdoor lighting is much more sophisticated and can improve the home in both beauty and functionality.
