Types Of Outdoor Lighting
Posted By: Natasha Guernsey on August 8, 2012
In this post we will discuss types of outdoor lighting. In my opinion there’s nothing more beautiful than well done outdoor lighting. It can enhance the beauty of your home as well as create inviting atmospheres for your family and guests to enjoy. Most of us understand task lighting and safety lighting, we put up lights around our driveway and front porch, but there’s much more to think about here. Read on for some basic ideas for lighting the exterior areas of your home.
Outdoor lighting can be divided into four categories
Security lighting: This lighting is used for lighting up the vulnerable areas of your property. It is advisable though to keep it away from the living areas so it’s not distracting, as the lights used are bright, and often motion activated. You can also have a manual on/off switch for your lighting so that you can override automatic illumination. ’There have been many studies done that support the idea that light creates security, you won’t want to overlook this important area.’
Task lighting: This type of lighting is for specific purposes such as outdoor grilling or walking safely up and down steps and along paths. Task lighting should be kept between your eyes and the object that needs to be lighted. See to it that it does not glare, as an overly bright light will blind rather than guide. ’There are so many beautiful choices for task lighting, from lighted walkways to flickering gas look lights around the front of your home.’
Accent lighting: This can create a dramatic effect, or highlight an unusual feature. For example, uplighting can illuminate an interesting piece of statuary. Silhouetting can be achieved by keeping the light between the object and your fence or wall. General or ambient lighting can display overall lighting so that people feel comfortable and look good. ’One of the most beautiful types of lighting is accent lighting, shining in the trees, or on your home, ask us for help to find just the right accent light for you.’
Moonlighting or starlight – You can also imitate moonlight or starlight for creating magical lighting. Moonlighting can be produced by putting outdoor lights in trees. The lights should be pointing downward to create a dappled effect, as if the area were lit by a full moon. And what could be more beautiful than natures own gift to us – stars in the night! This can be imitated by suspending tiny lights in the branches of a tree to create a sparkling night time canopy, or by using flickering candles, sprinkled here and there throughout the space. ’Isn’t this a beautiful idea, like something one might see in a magazine, and it’s all done with lights.’ Source: http://www.innovativeministry.org/outdoor-lighting-tips-for-your-home/

Electrical Wiring for New Computers and Other Electronic Devices
Posted By: Natasha Guernsey on January 1, 2012
Homeowners who received new appliances or electronic devices for Christmas may be nearing the point of frustration by now. Although almost every box assures the consumer that installation will be easy, most people discover that this is just not true for the untrained novice.
If electrical wiring for new residential or commercial computers or other electronic devices are giving you trouble, it may be time to call in an expert.
Light It Up Electric can provide insured and licensed technicians to get your new Christmas gifts up and running properly. If this requires the installation of new dedicated circuits, our electricians are fully capable of providing them.
We can assist with flat panel TV plugs and mounting, and we can also complete a spa hook up or troubleshoot a hot tub hook up. Our master electrician can even help with the installation of appropriate pool table lighting. Whether you need a new treadmill circuit installed or a tanning bed plug moved to a new location, we will get it done in a timely manner.
Sometimes adding a new appliance to a house can cause an additional load on an older switch box. If you are having trouble with flickering lights or a breaker tripping since Christmas, it may be time to call for a trouble shooting visit.
Our company has a presence on the web at www.LightItUpElectric.net, and we can also be found on Twitter and Facebook. Instead of battling electrical problems on your own, let our company deal with any frustrating issues for you.

Frisco / Little Elm Spa Electrical
Posted By: Natasha Guernsey on June 6, 2011
Home should be a place of refuge, a sanctuary from the outside world after a long day’s work. There are many things homeowners in Frisco and Little Elm can do to help make their home more relaxing. Consider installing a spa hook up or a hot tub hook up to make your home feel more like a day spa. Tanning beds can also be relaxing, and for some the money spent on a quality tanning bed, along with the installation of a tanning bed outlet, is an investment that will reap returns. When used during the winter months, tanning beds can not only help you maintain a healthy glow year round, but also help ward off winter blues or seasonal affective disorder.
Don’t forget about the possibilities outside the home to make your home more welcoming! Landscape lighting, tree lighting and pathway lighting can go a long way in creating a welcoming first impression. Imagine coming home after dark to a home with beautiful exterior lighting. Updating your patio electrical system with additional exterior outlets can also add additional functionality to your deck or patio. If you enjoy cooking, consider also installing an outdoor kitchen electrical system to allow you to cook outdoors.
